Assalaamu Alaykum and welcome to the 8th grade. I will be your child's social studies teacher this year. In shaa Allah we have an exciting and beneficial year of learning ahead of us.
History is usually seen as the most boring class by students, but that is in large part up to the teacher. In engaging critical thinking and showing parallels with current events while tying everything learned to our Muslim identity, I hope to impart all I can of knowledge of our nation's history in a fun, thought provoking way.
Malcolm X was correct when he said "The future belongs to those who prepare for it today." Indeed daily preparation for class will be key to your child's success. All reading assignments and homework will be available on this site for students to access. Each student has also been given a syllabus with the major assignments listed. Please keep abreast of your child's progress by making sure they are completing their assignments at home, especially the reading assignments. Class time is for engaging them in what they read, and helping them apply what they learned.
I am humbled to offer a drop of the knowledge of the world your child will receive during their time at Al-Madinah School. I look forward to accompanying them in their journey this year. Please feel free to contact me with any and all questions and concerns you have.
